The Federal Government of Nigeria has confirmed stories in
the media, which claim that the country had reached a ceasefire with militant
group, Boko Haram.
Reports of a ceasefire were all over the media this
afternoon, with different media houses claiming an agreement had been reached.
Confirming various reports, especially as it affects the
kidnapped Chibok girls, Senior Special Assistant to
the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe on Friday said:
“There are some concessions that
the Federal has agreed with the sect but I am not going to mention them. But we
want cessation of insurgency and the safe return of the Chibok girls. We are on
the path of achieving these,” Okupe said.
