At the end of a two week Catholic
Bishop meeting called by the Pope to discuss ‘family issues’ in the Catholic
Church, Bishops were unable to approve plans to welcome gay members to the
fold.
At the synod ended, the welcoming
tone of acceptance had been stripped away and replaced by a paragraph, which
describes homosexuality as a 'problem' Catholic families have to deal with.
The revised paragraph referred to
homosexuality as one of the problems Catholic families have to deal with.
It reads 'people with homosexual
tendencies must be welcomed with respect and delicacy,' but repeated church
teaching that marriage is only between man and woman.
