Reports
from Ghana say the worst cholera epidemic in thirty years has broken
out in parts of the country. The epidemic according to Ghanaweb has now
affected more than 22,000 people in ten regions of that country.
At least 170 people have been killed by the outbreak, which
is said to be the worst in 30 years, health officials in Ghana have said, and
there are fears that the numbers could rise.
The disease, according to the report, has taken a toll on
residents in the national capital, Accra, especially, due to bad sanitation
practices in coastal towns and slums.
