The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has given a
hint that it would appeal yesterday’s ruling of the Federal High Court in which
the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Adeyemi Ikuforiji was
acquitted.
Ikuforiji and Atoyebi were yesterday acquitted by Justice
Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court in Lagos. According to a statement made
available by the spokesperson of the commission, Wilson Uwujaren this weekend,
the EFCC said it would explore the possibility of an appeal in order to bring
the Speaker to book.
Recall that Adeyemi Ikuforiji stood trial on a 54-count
charge of money laundering to the tune of N503 million since 2013, of which he
was acquitted by a Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday
