‘Right To Be Forgotten’-Google Receives Loads Of Requests

Close to 500,000 people across Europe have asked search engine giant Google to have their links removed from sites, out of which 170,000 have so far been removed.

The controversial ‘right to be forgotten,’ attacks freedom of speech, and has been criticized widely by a lot of people for allowing criminals, rapists, and murderers attempt to erase information about what they have done in the past.

Google published anonymous requests from people who want their records removed. Of particular mention was a UK doctor who interrupted a procedure, and a clergyman who was in the past investigated in relation to alleged sexual abuse.

Under the European Union ‘right to be forgotten’ legislation, citizens of Europe can request removal of links that are no longer relevant from Google search database.
