Americans might not agree with this; but football or soccer
as citizens of the United States love to call it, is the most popular sport in
the world. It is the sport that attracts billions of people all over the world.
Football is like a religion in most countries; perhaps, you should ask the
Brazilians and the Nigerians for more explanation on that. That should give you
slight hint into how powerful to those who run football from Zurich is.
Men like Blatter and Platini are among the most powerful
individuals in the world of football. Both men were this morning (December 21st
2015) banned from having anything to do with football for eight years; now that
is huge if you ask me. It does show that there are people far more powerful
than the two individuals; but a little explanation might help you understand
that...
Blatter and Platini didn’t just get booted out by some men
more powerful than they are; far from it... Both men were adjudged to have run
fowl of existing FIFA rule, and were thus given the boot.
Quite naturally, both men have said they would appeal the
judgement; but it does give you a glimmer of hope that the law is no respecter
of persons. While we await the verdict of the Court for Arbitration for Sports
CAS, it would interest you to know that charges are also being brought against
some other persons alleged to have violated FIFA’s rules on ethics.
Morals... While corruption seems to have found a home in
certain countries; the falling from grace of the two powerful men in football
shows that the long harm of the law will surely find you out if you soil your
hands...
