Ebola-Second Healthcare Worker Tests Positive In Texas

A healthcare worker who was part of the medical team that attended to Thomas Eric Duncan has been taken into isolation.

The health worker, who reported a fever yesterday, was immediately taken into isolation at the hospital, while health officials interviewed the patient to find out any potential exposure.

Thomas Eric Duncan, the first US Ebola patient who has been in isolation in Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas is in a critical condition, officials said on Saturday.

Thomas Eric Duncan, who was diagnosed on Sunday, had previously been described as being in serious condition.

He is currently being treated in an isolation ward.

The United States Centre for Disease Control, CDC, has issues a nationwide red alert following the first case of Ebola recorded in the country.

The disease was brought into Dallas, United States by Thomas Eric Duncan on September 20. In an interview with Association Press, Duncan’s sister Mai Wureh identified him.

Duncan was sent home last week by a Dallas emergency room even though he told a nurse that he had been in disease-ravaged West Africa. The decision by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital to release him could have put others at risk of exposure to Ebola before he went back to the ER a couple of days later when his condition worsened.
