Ebola-Senegal Joins Nigeria As African Countries That Have Successfully Contained Ebola Virus

The World Health Organization’s regional office for Africa has declared that both Senegal and Nigeria have both successfully contained the deadly Ebola Virus Disease.

Recall that the virus was imported into Nigeria on July 20 2014 by a Liberian called Patrick Sawyer, who was an ECOWAS diplomat while that of Senegal was first recorded on August 29 2014.

“On the whole, the outbreaks in Senegal and Nigeria are pretty much contained,” the global health body said.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization said there have been 5,833 cases reported in West Africa with 2,833 deaths so far.
